About this event
The Tsuruse Nishi Community Center Festival is held every year with the purpose of fostering interaction among users and local residents. Organizations and circles utilizing the center present the achievements of their daily activities through art exhibitions and stage performances. At the venue, the 1st floor exhibition corner features computer-generated works, haiku, ikebana flower arrangements, stained glass, patchwork, handicrafts, seal engraving, and more. The 2nd floor exhibition space displays a wide variety of works such as Japanese-style painting, photography, calligraphy, paintings, painted postcards, children's flower arrangements, paper cutting, decorative kite paintings, pottery, and woodworking. Mock shops sell grilled rice balls, croquettes, handmade items, miso dengaku, fried udon, taiyaki, coffee, frankfurters, and more to entertain visitors. On October 4, a diverse array of stage performances will unfold, including magic, zenidaiko drumming, Nankin tamasudare screen manipulation, traditional Japanese dance, ocarina performance, contemporary shakuhachi performance, creative dance, hula dance, Hawaiian dance, shamisen performance and folk songs, sanshin performance, fresh exercise, and collaborative stages. At the opening ceremony, attractions by the Tsurusedai Elementary School Chorus Club and Fujimi High School Brass Band will be performed. In addition, an autumn rakugo storytelling stage (performed by Ichien Shunputei) will be held as a relaxation time. As events for kids, shrink plastic craft workshops and a picture-story show corner are also prepared, making it an enjoyable event for families. Admission is free.
