49th Funabashi City Ikebana Exhibition

About this event

Continuing since 1979 (Showa 54), this traditional flower arrangement exhibition is jointly organized by the Funabashi City Ikebana Association and the Funabashi City Board of Education. At this exhibition, a wide variety of ikebana works transcending schools are presented by association members and public applicants, serving not only as a stage for Ikebana learners to showcase their skills, but also providing citizens with an opportunity to experience ikebana and become familiar with Japan's traditional culture of floral art. With ikebana recently registered as a national Registered Intangible Cultural Property, passing it on to the next generation is also being promoted. At the venue, in addition to viewing ikebana works, hands-on workshops (advance reservation required) are held, allowing even beginners to easily experience the charm of flower arrangement. Exhibition contents may change between the first and second terms, offering new discoveries on repeat visits. It is an event where you can spend an enriching time feeling Japanese aesthetic sensibility and the transition of the seasons.
