'Helicopter Festival in TATEYAMA 2026' will be held at the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Tateyama Air Base in Tateyama City, Chiba Prefecture. This event is an annual public opening of the JMSDF Tateyama Air Base, returning in 2026 for the first time in two years. In past events, powerful training flights and flight demonstrations by helicopters such as the SH-60J/K, static aircraft displays, and equipment exhibitions were held. In addition, visitors can enjoy various hands-on activities, such as making dog tags and experiencing water discharge with a mini fire engine, as well as outdoor stalls. Opening the vast base grounds to the public provides a rare opportunity to observe helicopters up close. Admission is free, and no advance application is required. A free shuttle bus is also scheduled to operate from JR Tateyama Station on the day.
