About this event

On Saturday, October 24, 2026, a public facility open day will be held at the JAXA Katsuura Space Tracking and Communications Station in Katsuura City, Chiba Prefecture. Admission is free and no advance reservation is required. On the day, "Parabolic Antenna Drive Demonstrations," where visitors can observe the movement of the giant parabolic antenna up close, are scheduled 5 times a day; the 10:20 AM and 11:55 AM sessions particularly allow visitors to observe the reception of radio waves from the Earth observation satellite "DAICHI-2." In addition, a mini-lecture titled "Learn More about Parabolic Antennas" by JAXA staff will be held 4 times a day, providing an opportunity to hear directly from personnel working on the frontlines of space development. Visitors can also enjoy the sale of JAXA merchandise, distribution of antenna cards, and free touring inside the exhibition room. A free shuttle bus will operate to the venue from JR Katsuura Station. Program contents may change without prior notice, and the event may be canceled in the event of severe weather.
