About this event
A summer tradition of Abiko City, the '19th Abiko Kappa Festival' will be held again this year at Teganuma Park. Themed around the beloved mythical 'Kappa' water creature, this festival is an event that three generations—from children to youth and seniors—can enjoy together. On the day, a wide variety of activities are planned, including the Kappa Ondo large circle dance, food and beverage stalls by local city shops, and stage events by active local groups. There are plenty of activities for children, and participants can also take part dressed up in kappa costumes. Costumes of traditional Japanese yokai (monsters) will also appear, enlivening the venue even more. At 'Kappa Work,' visitors can experience making kappa shells and getting face painting to transform into kappa. Furthermore, popular festival stalls (ennichi) and traditional snacks (dagashi) can be enjoyed at 'Kappa Kids Town.' On the last Saturday of summer, why not create summer memories by dressing up as a kappa with your whole family or friends?
