About this event
The Setsubun-e ceremony is held every year on February 3 at Daihonzan Kominato Tanjoji Temple in Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture. This event is regarded as a memorial service for Setsubun to ward off misfortune and invite good fortune. Tanjoji Temple is known as the birthplace of Nichiren Shonin and has long bustled with many worshippers. It is presumed that events praying for sound health and safety for families throughout the year will be held during the Setsubun-e. Although specific details have not been made public, traditional Setsubun events such as bean-throwing and evil-dispelling rituals are likely to be conducted. In the solemn atmosphere of Tanjoji Temple, it offers an opportunity to offer prayers for the new year to be a good one.
