Museum of Furniture: 'Showa Life Exhibition'

About this event

In the 'Showa Life Exhibition' held at the Museum of Furniture (General Incorporated Foundation, Akishima City, Tokyo), approximately 60 items of furniture and daily tools from the Showa era are exhibited, showing the shift from the era when families gathered around a chabudai (low dining table) to life with a dining table, and from wooden iceboxes to electric refrigerators. Through these changes, the exhibition introduces the transition in Japanese living culture, evoking nostalgic memories for generations who know Showa and offering fresh discoveries to younger generations. The furniture on display consists of traditional, historical pieces in the museum's collection.
