Japanese name:赤レンガプロジェクト「昭和講談ガールズ」

About this event

This is a performance where a unit of female Kodan storytellers vividly recounts the lives of figures who shaped the 100-year Showa era. The program is scheduled to feature three Showa-period stories, one classic story, and Edo Daikagura (traditional acrobatic performance). The performers are Aoi Kanda, Teina Ichiryusai, and Kikusen. Kodan is a traditional Japanese narrative storytelling art known as "storytelling that sounds like reading aloud," and is considered one of the two major traditional narrative arts alongside Rakugo. In this performance, contemporary Kodan storytellers bring to life the spirit of the people who lived during the Showa era through skillful narrative craft and expressive power. Audiences will be captivated by the dramatic tales of individuals who accomplished great deeds, alongside the social conditions and everyday life of the time. Edo Daikagura acrobatics will also be performed, offering an entertaining and diverse program.
