Two Kokubunji Stations Station Staff Work Experience Program

About this event

The "Two Kokubunji Stations Station Staff Work Experience Program" will be held, jointly organized by Kokubunji City in Tokyo, JR East, and Seibu Railway. Offered as a hometown tax return gift for Kokubunji City, this is the very first joint project planned collaboratively by station staff from JR East and Seibu Railway. Participants can enjoy a one-day station staff experience set at JR East Kokubunji Station and Seibu Railway Kokubunji Station. Wearing uniforms and caps from both companies, participants split into morning and afternoon sessions to experience station staff duties at each railway. At JR East, activities include experiencing the automatic wake-up device, station concourse guidance, a safety mechanism workshop, and a ticket issuance experience at the Midori-no-Madoguchi ticket counter. At Seibu Railway, participants can enjoy touring station facilities, conductorless train monitoring, train simulator experience, platform screen door operation, and broadcasting experience. In particular, the interlocking machine lever operation experience—allowing operation of the levers used by Kokubunji Station staff on designated days to set routes for signals and switches—is a rare opportunity. In addition, as collaborative initiatives between both companies, there will be a commemorative photo session where participants can photograph the Chuo Line and Kokubunji Line simultaneously from the tip of the Seibu Railway Kokubunji Line platform (ordinarily off-limits), as well as a "joint handover ceremony" wearing a mix of uniforms and caps from both companies. For lunch, a special station bento-style boxed meal made with "Koku-veji" agricultural and livestock products from Kokubunji City will be provided. At the end of the experience, a completion ceremony will be held where completion certificates are awarded, and a video recording the experience will also be presented as a gift. The donation acceptance period runs from 12:00 on Thursday, October 1 to 12:00 on Saturday, October 31, with applications accepted on the Kokubunji City page of "JRE MALL Hometown Tax."
