About this event
The 2026 Sakae Furusato Festival is scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026. As a "handmade festival" created by uniting local community strength, a cohesive series of events will unfold, including a grand fireworks display, Yosakoi Soran dances, and festival stalls. The stage events will feature an opening ceremony, a time capsule opening ceremony, children's hip-hop, taiko drumming performances, an all-inclusive mass dance (Yosakoi & hip-hop), youth division stage events, street performer acts, and a Sukeban special live performance. In addition, musical performances by the Sakae Junior High School Brass Band Club can be enjoyed at the Rural Environment Improvement Center. Venue booths offer a wide variety of activities: kick-target shooting and soccer classes by the Junior Sports Club, early firefighting experiences for young children and fire gear photo shoots by the Sanjo City Women's Firefighting Squad, mineral water sales by the Sanjo City Water and Sewerage Division, a Jomon Festival by the Sanjo City Sales Strategy Office and Lifelong Learning Division, merchandise sales by SANJO BEATERS, children's industrial hands-on craft corners by the Sanjo Chamber of Commerce and Industry Industrial Division, and water balloon yo-yo fishing by Team Wa. In the evening, a grand fireworks show will take place from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with live streaming also planned. Access is 7 minutes from the Hokuriku Expressway Sakae Smart IC, or 20 minutes from the Sanjo-Tsubame IC via National Route 8. By train, it is a 20-minute walk from Tokoji Station on the JR Shin'etsu Main Line. Temporary parking will be available, and shuttle buses are scheduled to operate.
