About this event
In the lobby exhibition "Memories of War Told by Objects" held in the entrance hall of Kashiwazaki City Museum, war-related materials in the museum's collection are exhibited to introduce the harsh conditions during wartime and the thoughts of people caught in the war. Marking the 81st anniversary of the end of the war, this year's exhibition conveys the tragedy of war and the importance of peace through records of a dummy atomic bomb dropped on a rice paddy along the Echigo Line in Nagasaki, Kashiwazaki City that killed a woman weeding the field, senninbari (thousand-stitch cloths) infused with prayers for safe return, and letters notifying families of deaths from war and illness. The exhibited materials vividly bring to light the earnest wishes of the people of that era and the tragedies brought about by war.
