About this event

This is an exhibition of hyoso (traditional mounting) by Kiyoko Sato, a resident of Kashiwazaki City, Niigata Prefecture. Captivated by the appeal of mounting at the age of 60, she has continued creating works for 15 years. Reusing kimono fabrics inherited from her grandmother, biological mother, and mother-in-law, as well as Japanese washi paper, the exhibition showcases mounting works that beautifully decorate and improve the preservation of calligraphy, paintings, etegami (picture letters), tanzaku (hanging poetry cards), and shikishi (autograph cards). The collection of works practicing the concept of SDGs is full of warmth and creativity that cherishes good old items and generates new value. Through mounting techniques that enhance preservation, cherished pieces are reborn into forms that can be enjoyed for a longer time.
