Tenmangu Annual Festival

About this event

This is the annual festival of Tenmangu Shrine, which has long been revered as a deity of scholarship and the arts. Calligraphy works written by local children and lanterns are dedicated to the shrine. On the eve festival (Yomiya) on August 24, portable shrines (mikoshi) are paraded and street stalls line up, creating a lively atmosphere. The main festival on August 25 continues until around noon. This festival is beloved by local residents as a cherished summer tradition in Gosen City.
