The 55th Joetsu City Art Exhibition

The historic open-call exhibition '55th Joetsu City Art Exhibition (Shiten)' will be held, showcasing the achievements accumulated by citizens through their daily creative activities. The categories of Japanese Painting, Western Painting / Prints, Sculpture / 3D Art, and Crafts / Graphic Design will be held at Takada Castle Site Park Oren Plaza, while the Calligraphy and Photography divisions will be held at Musee Yukikomachi. The exhibition period runs from Sunday, October 4, 2026 (Reiwa 8) to Monday (national holiday), October 12, with opening hours from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (until 4:00 PM on the final day). Admission is free. Submissions are also being accepted, and application guidelines can be obtained from the Social Education Division, City Hall, and branch general offices. In addition, art appreciation sessions guided by exhibition steering committee members and critique sessions by judges will be held at each venue during the period. Concurrently, an 'Exhibition of Winning Works from the Niigata Prefecture School Children's Painting and Print Competition' will also be held at Takada Castle Site Park Oren Plaza.
