Ogi Port Festival and Fireworks Display

Japanese name:小木港祭り・花火大会

📅 Sat, Aug 29, 2026

📍 Sado, Niigata

About this event

This is the fireworks display of the "Ogi Port Festival" held in Sado City, Niigata Prefecture. The festival features traditional small lion dances (ko-shishimai), grand lion dances (o-shishimai), oni-daiko (demon drumming) dedicated to the local tutelary deity, as well as the "Ogi Okesa" dance and mikoshi (portable shrine) processions. Starting at 20:00 on Saturday, August 29, approximately 4,000 fireworks will be launched, illuminating the night sky with brilliant floral blooms as Sado's final summer festival. Highlights include spectacular displays such as gold starmine, extra-large starmine, and giant 3-shakudama shells. Because the launch site is situated inside the harbor, the light reflected on the sea surface merges with the flowers blooming across the night sky, creating a breathtaking scenery that cannot be experienced anywhere else.
