About this event

Ryotsu Takigi Noh also plays a role in preserving the lineage and quality of Noh in Sado under the guidance and cooperation of Mr. Honma (the Sado head of the Hosho School). At the Shiizaki Suwa Shrine Noh Stage overlooking Lake Kamo, Noh is performed amidst a magical atmosphere. Please come and appreciate the traditional Noh supported and nurtured by the common people. This event is a precious opportunity to experience traditional performing arts that possess an authentic brilliance backed by history. Takigi Noh, which offers a sense of open-air freedom unique to outdoor performances, is danced as bonfires are lit at dusk, creating a mystical space. Etiquette for watching Noh in Sado is relatively relaxed, allowing even first-timers to casually enjoy the world of yugen (subtle grace).
