About this event
This is a dedicatory Noh performance commemorating Kanze Motokiyo (Zeami), who was exiled to Sado. Staged in the main hall of Shoho-ji Temple, where Zeami is said to have stayed, Noh is performed under the mystical glow of candlelight. Before the performance begins, the Omotesenke-style tea ceremony 'Haisho no Tsuki' using deep sea water from Hatano Tada—the place where Zeami landed on the island—will be available. In addition, there will be a special lecture and a public exhibition of the prefectural designated tangible cultural property 'Shinji-men Beshimi (Rain-Praying Mask)', said to have been used by Zeami. In a special, one-night-only performance where history, art, and hospitality harmonize, you can savor a soul-stirring experience that can only be found in Sado.
