Hashidate Autumn Festival
Japanese name:橋立秋まつり
📅 Sat, Sep 19, 2026 - Sun, Sep 20, 2026
About this event
An autumn festival will be held in the three towns of Hashidatemachi, Tajirimachi, and Koshimachi in the Hashidate district, which flourished in ancient times as the home of Kitamaebune merchant ships. It is held for 2 days on Saturday and Sunday in Hashidatemachi, and for 3 days starting Friday in Tajirimachi and Koshimachi. From morning, the port town is enlivened with unique lion dances (shishimai) by each town, and on Saturday morning, a Buddhist memorial service and the Urayasu dance (Urayasu-no-mai) are dedicated at Izumi Shrine in Hashidatemachi. This festival is a valuable opportunity to deeply experience the traditions and culture of the region.
