About this event

"Wakasa Oi Super Ogase," held in Oi Town, Fukui Prefecture, is a major summer event featuring a dynamic collaboration of roaring flames and fireworks. The giant torch "Super Ogase," standing 20 meters tall and weighing 1 ton, dances wildly at the venue, making it a thrilling fire festival that scorches the midsummer night sky. When the Super Ogase topples over, set-piece fireworks are launched simultaneously. This Super Ogase is inspired by the traditional fire festival "Ogase" passed down in Oi Town, with origins dating back approximately 300 years. It continues to be preserved today and has been designated a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. It is a rare opportunity to experience a magnificent night where history and passion unite. During the finale, music and fireworks synchronize flawlessly, offering dynamic entertainment that captivates the audience. Colorful fireworks illuminate the tranquil night sky over Aoto one after another, evoking lasting emotions.
