About this event

The annual autumn event "27th Kumagawa Ippuku Jidaimura" will be held in Kumagawa-juku, a post town on the Japan Heritage "Saba Kaido" (Mackerel Road) located in Wakasa Town, Fukui Prefecture. This year, it will take place as a special collaborative project celebrating the "30th Anniversary of Designation as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings" and "Kumagawa-juku Wakasa Art Festival 2026." Visitors can enjoy nostalgic scenery featuring rickshaws and chindon-ya (traditional musical marching performers), as well as the "Tin Toy Goldfish Race" utilizing the Maegawa water canal. Furthermore, a diverse array of programs blending history and modern culture will be held, including Japanese taiko drum performances, calligraphy performances, live street music, and esports. There will also be bazaar stalls and a food court offering local delicacies, as well as open historic facilities available for free tours. It is an event where you can spend a full day with family and friends while strolling through a charming post town.
