Hayakawa Geo Plan: Tracing the Boundary of the Fossa Magna!

Japanese name:早川ジオプラン~フォッサマグナの境界を辿る!~

📅 Thu, Sep 3, 2026 - Sun, Sep 27, 2026

📍 Hayakawa, Yamanashi

About this event

Hayakawa Town in Yamanashi Prefecture is located at the western edge of the Fossa Magna, which divides Japan into east and west, and the major fault line of the Itoigawa-Shizuoka Tectonic Line runs through it from north to south. In this event, participants will actually trace the boundary of the earth and observe geological differences and traces of the land colliding. Visiting the 'Arakura Reverse Fault Outcrop', designated as a national Natural Monument, and observing rocks from the east and west along the riverbed, the tour unlocks how the Southern Alps were formed. It is a valuable experiential program to deepen understanding of nature and the earth, allowing you to feel firsthand the geological differences between east and west across the Fossa Magna and connect with the dynamic history of the planet.
