About this event

The Fuji Kawaguchiko Autumn Leaves Festival is a major autumn event held primarily at the "Momiji Corridor" (Maple Corridor) along the Nashi River on the shores of Lake Kawaguchi. From early to late November, when around 500 maple trees begin to change color, visitors can enjoy a magical world of autumn foliage. Illuminations take place after sunset, offering a stunning contrast between the vibrant red and yellow autumn leaves and Mount Fuji standing against the night sky, different from the daytime scenery. Last year, a new extended section called "Oku-no-Hosomichi" was added to the Maple Corridor, allowing visitors to enjoy the renewed autumn leaves festival. Around the venue, food stalls and local craft markets are held annually, where visitors can savor Yamanashi local specialties such as Hoto noodles, Yoshida Udon, Tonjiru (pork miso soup), and Amazake (sweet sake). While entry to the festival itself is free, transportation to the site and dining incur costs. To avoid crowds, weekday mornings and after 20:00 near the end of the light-up are relatively calm times for viewing. As temperatures drop at night, dressing warmly is strongly recommended.
