About this event
The 'Hatsuzaru Festival' Grand Festival, held at Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine—a constituent component of the Mt. Fuji World Heritage site—is a historic and venerable Shinto ritual. The enshrined deity is said to bestow great blessings on agriculture, particularly sericulture (silk farming), and tradition holds that this Hatsuzaru Festival was established to pray for abundant harvests. In addition to Shinto rituals such as purification prayers, a breathtaking dance performance is dedicated through the Fuji Daidai Kagura. The festival also features food stalls, a mochi-pounding event, a Kyudo (archery) tournament, and a stamp rally, drawing lively crowds of participants every year.
