About this event
The "40th Shuji Izawa Memorial Music Festival" will be held to honor Shuji Izawa, a native of Ina City who served as the first principal of the Tokyo Music School (now Tokyo University of the Arts) and contributed to the modernization of Japanese music education. Organized annually in cooperation with Tokyo University of the Arts, this 40th milestone event takes on the newly updated title "40th Shuji Izawa Memorial Music Festival: A Day Woven by Tokyo Geidai and Children" and will be held in three parts. In Part 1, Takato Elementary School and Takato Kita Elementary School, coached by Tokyo University of the Arts, will perform a musical play, followed by a chorus by Takato Junior High School and Takato High School, as well as a euphonium-tuba quartet performance by students of Tokyo University of the Arts. In Part 2, wind ensemble performances by municipal junior high schools, a joint chorus by junior high school choir/music clubs, and a joint chorus by municipal high schools will be presented. In Part 3, Takato Junior High School, the Ina Junior Ensemble Club (IJEC), and the joint choir of municipal junior high school choir/music clubs will collaborate alongside a grand performance by the Tokyo Geidai Symphony Orchestra. This festival aims to provide a stage for children to present their learning achievements and foster deeper exchanges while experiencing outstanding music.
