Omachi Onsen Village Water-Splashing Festival 2026

About this event

Held to pray for the prosperity of Omachi Onsen Village and for good health and protection against illness, the "Omachi Onsen Village Water-Splashing Festival 2026" is a traditional festival where guests staying in the hot spring village and local community members come together to pray for the rich blessings of water and good health. The highlight of the festival is the procession where water is splashed over the portable shrine (mikoshi), and participants can enjoy the event ready to get completely soaked. Starting from the former Sake Museum at around 18:30, the parade tours through inns in the hot spring district, finishing at the Water Splashing Square (Tateyama Prince Hotel Annex). Prior to the start of the festival, food trucks will open from 16:00 to enhance the festive atmosphere. After enjoying the event, relaxing in the hot springs to soothe away fatigue is also recommended.
