The "Nakasendo Shionada-juku Post Town Festival" will be held to convey the ambiance of Shionada-juku, which flourished in ancient times with travelers crossing the Chikuma River. Around the venue, an atmosphere reminiscent of the post town of those days spreads. As main events of the festival, a children's portable shrine (mikoshi), a performance by the Saku City Fire Department Band, a post town tug-of-war tournament, post town taiko drumming, minyo folk dance procession, and a post town bingo tournament are scheduled. In addition, the service corner will offer barrel sake and post town tonjiru pork soup, while the sales corner features frankfurters, draft beer, and target shooting games for children. Many activities open to everyone are prepared, making it a day to experience the lively atmosphere of a historic post town.
