Obuse Hokusai Masterpieces Exhibition (First Period)

About this event

This is the first half of the 'Obuse Hokusai Masterpieces' exhibition held as a 50th-anniversary special exhibition of the Hokusai Museum. As a triumphant return exhibition of 'EXPOSITION HOKUSAI' held in Nantes, France, precious works will be displayed from the Hokusai Museum's masterpiece collection of about 160 pieces that Obuse takes pride in, including Hokusai's representative work 'Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji,' brocade print (nishiki-e) masterpieces such as 'Remarkable Views of Bridges in Various Provinces' and 'A Tour of Waterfalls in Various Provinces,' as well as actor prints and surimono prints created during Hokusai's youth. In this exhibition, the history of the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany in Nantes, which served as the venue for 'EXPOSITION HOKUSAI,' and collection works from the Nantes History Museum will also be introduced. The exhibition content offers new discoveries both for those encountering Hokusai's works for the first time and for frequent visitors.
