About this event
In Toki City, Gifu Prefecture, 'Utsuwa Sagashi' will be held over two days bringing together Toki City, a major production area of Mino ware boasting a 1,400-year history. Bringing together over 200 large and small potteries in the city, this event unites previously separate pottery festivals across the city into one, allowing visitors to tour Toki City while searching for 'utsuwa' (tableware and vessels) to enrich daily life. This year, there are also collaborations with accommodation facilities, making it possible to stroll through each venue leisurely. At the Utsuwa Sagashi Marche, food trucks and programs for children can be enjoyed. At the Mino Ware Traditional Crafts Festival, art exhibitions and live demonstrations by traditional craftspeople will take place, and the Ceramic Village will feature exhibitions and sales by various kilns. At the Oribe Hills Pottery Fair, you can fully enjoy vessels, crafts, and an autumn weekend with all five senses. At the Oroshi Doeraee Pottery Festival, kiln tours and moro-ita pottery markets are held, along with touring the town on rental kickboards and meeting the popular character 'Tokkuri Tokkun'. At the Dachi Donburi Festival, warehouse-direct sales, flea markets, strolling through Showa-era streetscapes, and touring chimneys are recommended. At the Tokimeku Toki Tea Ceremony, you can enjoy nodate (outdoor tea ceremony) with Mino ware vessels, and an exhibition of pottery-making experience works will also be held. At the Donburi Kaikan Festival, Mino ware sales, special live performances, painting experiences, and a stamp rally are conducted. At OPEN LAB, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Toki Municipal Ceramic Research Institute Ceram-Techno Toki, there are plenty of pottery experiences for both children and adults. Furthermore, at the Autumn Kurikinton and Chestnut Confectionery Festival and Ms. Pottery's Small Garden, special encounters with prized ceramics await. The 'Toki Urain-cho' (back-stamp book) featuring over 100 types of stamps to collect will also make an appearance, allowing visitors to deeply appreciate Toki City's charms.
