In September 2026, Shirakawa Town celebrated its 70th anniversary of municipal status. To commemorate this milestone, a special day will be held at the Shirakawa Town Civic Hall. Part 1 will feature a ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of the merger. In Part 2, a triumphant commemorative performance of 'Fuji Musume' (Wisteria Maiden) and artistic discussions will be presented by Kabuki actor Chouya Nakamura, a native of Shirakawa Town. In addition, around the Civic Hall, the 'Town Vitality Marche' bringing together local specialties and gourmet food, and the 'Ao Fes' featuring hands-on experiences with modern digital technology and a stamp rally with luxurious prizes, will be held concurrently. The market will offer a wide variety of delicacies and local specialties, such as Shirakawa ham, food trucks, salt-grilled sweetfish, Japanese sweets, Shirakawa tea, organic vegetables, and local craft beer. Hands-on booths will feature Ricoh's 'Paper App' experience where hand-drawn pictures move on screen, as well as e-sports experiences including Japanese drum rhythm games and real racing games.
