About this event

The "Sho Kanzeon Bosatsu Prayer Festival (Hatsu Kannon)" is solemnly observed at Rishoji Temple every year on February 10. On this special day, sutra chanting with prayer drums and prayer recitations through the rotating reading of the Daihannyakyo Sutras are performed to pray to Kannon for the wishes of worshippers. The Kannon at Rishoji Temple is called "Yumeoi Kannon," and is said to hear the wishes of and guide those who hold strong desires like those seen in dreams. It accommodates a wide variety of wishes, including success in academic studies and certifications, bodily health and traffic safety, finding good matches and business prosperity, and safety of the household. In addition, for those who find it difficult to visit in person due to distance, prayers can be conducted via advance reservation. There are three types of prayer options: "Yomiage" (reading aloud the applicant's name and prayer request; 2,000 yen), "Kigan Nobori" (offering a prayer banner to Kannon; 3,000 yen), and "Ofuda" (sending talisman amulets - standard amulet or image amulet; 5,000 yen each). Prayer fees must be paid by February 8 either to the bank account specified in the email received after application or directly at Rishoji Temple.
