About this event
On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the "Camp Fuji Friendship Festival 2026" will be held at the U.S. Marine Corps Camp Fuji in Gotemba City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The flightline (runway) of Camp Fuji, which the general public rarely has the chance to enter, will be opened to the public, allowing visitors to enjoy Japan-U.S. military equipment displays, live performances, food, and family activities. In addition to viewing U.S. Marine Corps and Japan Self-Defense Forces equipment up close, the life-size "Patlabor" robot that appeared in the movie "THE NEXT GENERATION PATLABOR" will also be on display. The event is well-suited for families, featuring children's game booths, bounce houses, and street performances. On stage from noon until night, performers include Takigahara Unkai Taiko, Gotemba Dance Performance, JGSDF Fuji School Band, Bon Odori dancing, III MEF (3rd Marine Expeditionary Force) Ceremonial Band, III MEF Band, Sir Allah Walter Q Jackson, and Midnight Gravity Rock Band. Along with MCCS food tents, local food stalls and food trucks will set up shop at the venue, offering a variety of festival foods. To conclude the day, fireworks are scheduled starting from 8:50 PM. From daytime military equipment displays to evening stage shows and fireworks, it is an event that offers different ways to enjoy depending on the time of day.
