About this event

'D.Y.F.C Discovery School in Nishiizu Town' is a new experiential program co-created by Globeride, Inc., which develops the fishing brand 'DAIWA', and the Nishiizu Town Umigyo Regional Development Promotion Council. Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the 'Daiwa Young Fishing Club (D.Y.F.C)', a membership-based fishing club for children operated by DAIWA for many years, it will be held for the first time on Saturday, November 7, 2026, in Nishiizu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture. In addition to experiencing the fun of fishing, the program aims to deepen parents' and children's understanding of the sea and nature and foster new ties with the region through all-around local experiences unique to Nishiizu Town, such as exploring intricate coastlines by sea kayak, experiencing local traditional culture (shaving dried bonito flakes and making dashi soy sauce), and cooking wild game (gibier) dishes utilizing venison and wild boar. A beginner's fishing class is held in the morning, and in the afternoon participants choose one of three programs. Every program allows participants to learn the connection between nature and human activities while engaging with Nishiizu's regional resources, providing 'discovery' opportunities that broaden perspectives and stimulate intellectual curiosity. Positioned as a practical program for 'Umigyo' (ocean-based regional revitalization) promoted by the Fisheries Agency, it intends to nurture future supporters of the area through deep experiences of local charms and contribute to realizing a sustainable regional community.
