About this event
Held in Nisshin City, Aichi Prefecture, the "Komenoki Omato Matsuri Festival" is a traditional festival celebrating and offering gratitude for the autumn harvest. Key highlights of the festival include the "Kaiwai" procession, where an offering horse delegation bearing decorative horses and spears marches through the district, and the "Hayagake," where two handlers guide and race horses along the horse track inside the grounds of Komenoki Shinmei Shrine. Through these distinctive ceremonial rites, local culture and tradition are vividly presented. In particular, the "Hayagake" offers a thrilling spectacle as horse and handlers sprint in unison. This festival serves as an important occasion for local residents and neighboring communities to unite in preserving tradition and handing it down to future generations.
