Japanese name:三好大提灯まつり
📅 Sat, Aug 22, 2026 - Sun, Aug 23, 2026
About this event
Held every summer at Miyoshi Inarikaku, located nearly in the center of Miyoshi City, Aichi Prefecture, the 'Miyoshi Great Lantern Festival' is famous for the breathtaking sight of three massive lanterns boasting a height of 11 meters floating in the night sky. During the main festival, ohayashi musical performances and traditional 'Bonote' martial art dedications take place starting in the morning, and numerous festival stalls operate over the two-day period, bringing tremendous energy to the event. The fireworks display that decorates the finale of the main festival is also a must-see highlight. In 2017 (Heisei 29), one of these giant lanterns also made history by being certified as the world's largest.
