About this event

The dynamic "Omanto Festival (Galloping Horse Festival)" will be held at Fujie Shrine in the Fujie district of Higashiura Town, Aichi Prefecture. Held since ancient times as an autumn rite praying for bountiful harvests, the festival's highlight is horses with bells on their backs galloping inside the shrine grounds' fence, accompanied by young men shouting "Haiyo" as they hold on and run alongside them. On the same day, the "Fujie no Dantsuku Shishimai (Lion Dance)," designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property by the prefecture, will also be dedicated, adding further liveliness to the festival. It is a valuable opportunity to experience the local tradition and energy.
