Japanese name:第1回 お伊勢さん125社めぐりSTAGE1
📅 Sat, Nov 28, 2026 - Sun, Nov 29, 2026
About this event
The "O-Ise-san 125 Shrine Tour" is an event to visit all 125 shrines associated with Ise Jingu in a maranic style. The 125 shrines are split into three stages held throughout the year, and by completing all three stages, participants can visit all shrines. Participants can walk or run at their own pace and enjoy resting and eating/drinking at aid stations. This event offers a special experience in sacred spaces while connecting with Japan's quintessential original scenery. Participants can refresh body and mind while exploring the history and culture of the Grand Shrine and enjoying the nature-rich landscapes of Ise-Shima. The event takes place along a course spanning Shima City, Toba City, and Ise City, giving participants the opportunity to foster a spirit of gratitude ("okagesama no kokoro") through worship at each shrine. "Maranic" is a coined word combining "marathon" and "picnic," meaning a style of traveling the course at one's own pace. However, participants are required to pray quietly within the precincts of each shrine. This event is held in an auspicious year when preparations for the next Shikinen Sengu (periodic shrine rebuilding) are underway, allowing participants to feel firsthand the sacred atmosphere of the Grand Shrine. Please note that this event was originally scheduled for February 28 (Sat) - March 1 (Sun), 2026, but was postponed to November 28 (Sat) - 29 (Sun), 2026 due to various circumstances. The schedules for the subsequent STAGEs are planned for May and November 2027.
