About this event
The 'Iwami Kagura Matsusaka Performance' will be held in Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture. Held as part of a tourism and cultural exchange project between Matsusaka City and Hamada City in Shimane Prefecture, this is a valuable opportunity to appreciate 'Iwami Kagura', a traditional performing art passed down in the Iwami region that is also recognized as a Japan Heritage. Backed by the historical ties between the two cities spanning approximately 400 years, a kagura troupe will be invited from Hamada City to perform powerful kagura. On the day, a ceremony commemorating the 10th anniversary of the agreement signing and a mini-concert by Teiji Yamazaki, Matsusaka City Brand Ambassador and Hamada City PR Ambassador, are also scheduled. In the Iwami Kagura performance, pieces such as 'Tenjin', 'Jinrin', 'Ebisu', and 'Orochi' are scheduled to be performed, allowing attendees to fully experience the charm of traditional performing arts.
