Late Autumn Light-Up at Genkyuen Garden
Japanese name:錦秋の玄宮園ライトアップ
📅 Sat, Nov 14, 2026 - Sun, Nov 29, 2026
About this event
Marking its 26th edition this year, this event is a hallmark of late autumn in Hikone. Genkyuen Garden, the daimyo garden of the Ii clan, former feudal lords of the Hikone Domain, is a pond-strolling garden (chisen-kaiyushiki-teien) that conveys the essence of Edo culture to the present day. As autumn deepens, the trees in the garden turn red and yellow, creating a magical landscape alongside autumn foliage reflected on the water's surface. Please enjoy the nocturnal scenery woven together by illuminated autumn leaves and the National Treasure Hikone Castle keep. As part of the special light-up within Genkyu-Rakurakuen, tea ceremonies can also be enjoyed at Hosyodai.
