In Ryuo Town, Shiga Prefecture, the "Kagami-no-Shuku Yoshitsune Genpuku Festival 2026" will be held to honor the history of "Kagami-no-Shuku," where Minamoto no Yoshitsune is said to have celebrated his coming of age (genpuku), and to celebrate new milestones in life. Centered around the "Kagami-no-Sato Yoshitsune Genpuku Ceremony" that has been held over the years, this two-day event features a wide variety of activities related to Yoshitsune, including a costume parade of figures associated with him, Benkei's arm-wrestling tournament, Yoshitsune's Eight-Boat Leap (Hasso-tobi) long jump contest, and a Lake Biwa loop beacon relay. In addition, at Roadside Station Ryuo Kagami no Sato (Michi-no-Eki Ryuo Kagami no Sato), many events enjoyable for both children and adults will be held, such as Yosakoi dance, Tenbin Taiko drumming, and food trucks. Furthermore, the Roadside Station Ryuo Kagami no Sato Thanksgiving Festival will be held concurrently, making it a festival packed with highlights that fuses history, local culture, and vibrant events.
