Kizugawa City 2026 Autumn Special Opening (Gansenji Temple)

About this event

Statues and artifacts normally closed to the public, such as the Nyoirin Kannon Bodhisattva statue, Benzaiten statue, Rasetsuten statue, Ryokai Mandala, and Gansenji Engi (City-Designated Cultural Property), will be put on special display. On Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays in October and November, special opening of the first story of the three-storied pagoda (Important Cultural Property) will also take place (may be cancelled in case of rain or stormy weather). Gansenji Temple is located at 43 Kamikamon, Kamocho Iwafune, Kizugawa City, Kyoto Prefecture, accessible by taking the Kizugawa City Community Bus from JR Yamatoji Line "Kamo" Station and getting off at "Gansenji." Opening hours are from 8:30 to 17:00 (admission closes at 16:45).
