About this event
Daisen Park Thanks Lantern 2026 will be held at Daisen Park in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, from Saturday, September 19 to Sunday, September 20, 2026. It is a magical event where hot-air-balloon-shaped LED lanterns are released into the night sky illuminated by the Harvest Moon. Visitors can release lanterns into the sky infused with wishes and gratitude for their loved ones. Offering a chance to experience a traditional festival long cherished across parts of Asia, the breathtaking scene of lanterns rising like swirling stars enchants visitors. In addition to the lantern launch, the event features street performances and festival game stalls such as bouncy ball scooping and lucky raffles. Kitchen cars (food trucks) will also be on-site, serving photogenic sweets and hot dishes perfect for autumn. Furthermore, there is an interactive soap bubble zone and free-to-enjoy bubble machines; at night, the bubbles are illuminated, creating a special, soothing atmosphere filled with glittering bubbles and glowing lantern light. Ticket purchase is required to participate in the lantern launch, and early-bird tickets are also available. The venue opens from 15:00, making it a great time to enjoy the festival atmosphere through performances and stalls.
