Hiraoka Shrine Autumn Village Festival (Hiraoka Matsuri)

About this event

A festival giving thanks for the autumn harvest, featuring the gallant and spectacular gathering of more than 20 large and small floats called "taikodai." On the day before the festival, the Shinkosai (divine procession) and the entrance of the taikodai into the shrine take place, and the area bustles with numerous street stalls. Shinto rituals are conducted during the main festival on October 15, but there is no shrine entrance of the taikodai. Hiraoka Shrine is located just a short walk from Hiraoka Station on the Kintetsu Nara Line.
