About this event

In Hannan City, a festival full of passion is held with the arrival of autumn. A particular highlight is the "Yagura Parade", where the region's prized "yagura" festival floats assemble and each district showcases the pulling of their floats. On the Sunday of the week before this parade, yagura floats from districts across the city gather around the City Hall. During the main autumn festival, at Hata Shrine, the dynamic "miyairi" (entering the shrine grounds) where floats dash up the stairs in front of the worship hall all at once is a must-see, unfolding a heroic and high-speed procession. In addition, on Monday, October 12 (public holiday), a portable shrine procession (mikoshi togyo) takes place, touring the Ishida-Miyamoto, Kuwahata, and Tottorinaka districts. On the same day, there is also a miyairi in the Shimoso district, where yagura lanterns lit in the evening grounds of Kamo Shrine create a magical atmosphere. These festivals, created together by the local community, mark one of the most passionate days of the year in Hannan City.
