About this event

This exhibition looks back on the 45 years of creative work by Takashi Hoshino, a plastic artist living in Takarazuka City. Over 160 works and related materials, from his early works in 1987 to his latest works in 2026, will be exhibited together. Using about 80 types of wood, such as teak, cherry, zelkova, beech, and striped ebony, he creates deep expressions by composing the scenes to utilize each wood's color, grain, and texture without coloring. In addition, incorporating the technique of pyrography, he portrays even the warmth and temperature of landscapes through delicate shading. Rooted in the culture of inlay and marquetry decoration that developed in the Islamic cultural sphere and resonating with European woodcraft decoration, the taracea technique allows visitors to enjoy Mr. Hoshino's unique expression, which has expanded from decorative geometric compositions to expressions incorporating landscapes and figures. The exhibition includes displays introducing the production process and pieces that can actually be touched, offering content that allows visitors to feel the appeal of the works more closely.
