Banshu Miki Autumn Festival at Iwatsubo Shrine

The sight of gorgeously decorated, prideful yatai floats entering various shrines in the city and being vigorously hoisted is full of power. It will be held at Iwatsubo Shrine (391 Iwamiyacho, Miki City, Hyogo Prefecture). The eve festival (yoimiya) is on Saturday, October 17, with float entry (miyairi) scheduled from around 5:20 PM and float departure (miyade) until around 8:00 PM. The main festival (hongu) is on Sunday, October 18, with float entry scheduled from around 10:15 AM and float departure until around 3:00 PM. Times for float entry and departure may change depending on circumstances on the day. On the day of the festival, you can see a slightly different scenery from usual Miki, with festival sounds echoing and floats passing along familiar streets, transforming the atmosphere of the entire town. Rather than making the shrine your sole destination, you can also enjoy observing the townscape along the way to the festival.
