Children's Town Inami 2026

About this event

"Children's Town Inami 2026" is an event where elementary school students create a virtual town and experience working and shopping. Participating children become "town residents," working in the children's town to earn a salary, paying taxes, and using town-exclusive currency to shop and play, thereby experiencing "community building." Originating from a program in Germany, it allows children to experience community development while learning about how society works. Some children participate as "child store managers," having held prior discussions in "children's meetings" to set up their shops. On the day of the event, participants can work at the shops created by the "child store managers" to earn a salary, enjoying games and shopping while learning about social systems. This year's child mayor has planned a stamp rally to revitalize the town, aiming for an energetic 2-day festival-like experience that both shop managers and visitors can enjoy. The organizers emphasize letting children pursue what they want without excessive adult direction, expressing hope that children who visit the event will continue their involvement in the future—first as "child store managers," and later as volunteer staff.
