About this event
The "18th Akenobe One-Yen Train Festival," held in Yabu City, Hyogo Prefecture, is a community exchange event centered on the Akenobe Mine Myojin Train (One-Yen Train)—a component asset of Japan Heritage—and utilizing the Akenobe mining town and related historic remains. Originally used for transporting ore, the mining train eventually began carrying commuting employees and later general passengers. It earned the affectionate nickname "One-Yen Train" because the fare was set at just 1 yen. At the event, visitors can enjoy test rides on the One-Yen Train "Kurogane-go" and browse a bazaar. While riding the rattling One-Yen Train, you can immerse yourself in the nostalgic atmosphere and experience the charm of Japan Heritage. In addition, part of the mining tunnel that once operated as Japan's top tin mine is open to the public as the "Akenobe Exploration Tunnel," where you can explore the realistic mine tunnel with exposed rock surfaces and remaining mine car rails alongside explanations from a guide. Same-day registration is also accepted for tours on this day.
