As the western gateway to the Nara Basin, the Katsuragi area was a crossroads where many highways intersected. During the Edo period, travelers with various purposes came and went through this region. Focusing on travel in the Edo period, this special exhibition explores the reality of these journeys through travelers' attire and pictorial depictions of travel scenes from that era. The exhibits encourage visitors to reflect on the vital role Katsuragi played as a transportation hub and the lives of the people who gathered there. It will be a precious opportunity to connect with history while experiencing the romance of Edo-period travel.
