About this event

The "Tsubosaka Kannon Ominugui Special Kechien Worship" will be held at Tsubosakadera Temple (Minamihokke-ji) in Takatori Town, Takaichi District, Nara Prefecture. In conjunction with the "Ominugui" (ritual dusting and cleaning) of the principal image, the Eleven-Faced Thousand-Armed Kannon Bodhisattva statue, this event offers a special worship opportunity to establish a deep spiritual bond (kechien) with Kannon. Tsubosaka Kannon has long been deeply revered as a deity for curing eye diseases. By touching the knees of the statue, visitors can experience a special connection with Kannon. During the same period, the "Passing Through the Giant Kannon Spectacles" and the "Simultaneous Opening of the First Floors of the Two Great Pagodas (Three-Story Pagoda and Tahoto Pagoda)" will also be held, allowing visitors to fully enjoy Tsubosakadera in autumn. Tsubosakadera is an ancient temple said to have been founded in the Nara period, and is also famous as the setting of "Tsubosaka Reigenki," a Ningyo Joruri puppet play depicting the devoted marital love between the blind Sawaichi and his wife Osato.
