The 38th Takatori Castle Festival

Scheduled to be held in 2026, the 'Takatori Castle Festival' is a traditional festival held in Takatori Town, Nara Prefecture, a historic town nestled at the foot of Takatori Castle. Although traditionally held on November 23 every year, the event date for this year has been changed to Sunday, November 22. Set in the Takatori castle town, a costume parade—an iconic autumn feature—will march through, transporting visitors to ancient times. On the day, a variety of attractions are planned, including Japanese taiko drum performances, matchlock gun demonstrations, Nankin Tamasudare performances, and staged sword fights (tate), with various exhibition booths, festival stalls, and markets set up at the main venue. Armor try-on experiences and sales of Takatori Castle commemorative castle stamps (gojoin) will also take place, making it a day to connect with history and culture. At the castle town sub-venue, music shows and talk shows will also be held, offering entertainment throughout the day. It is a festival full of highlights where you can feel the rich history and culture of Takatori Town firsthand.
